What's available?
You can receive up $78k in home care funding, but most people will also need to contribute towards the cost of care.
When?
Starting 1 November 2025, Support at Home rfunding replaces Home Care Packages and Short-Term Restorative Care schemes.
Who is it for?
All participants fall under Support at Home but rules are different for Grandfathered & Transitional participants. Learn more below.

You now pay less care management fees & no package management fees.
Instead, you pay an all-inclusive hourly rate for each service, with the overall result adding up to more service hours for most participants.
 
  
  
                
              With up to 8 home care funding levels, you can receive up to $78K each year to live independently at home.
You may also receive up to
- $15k for Assistive Technology
- $15k for Home Modifications
- $12k for Restorative Care; and
- $25k for End of Life supports
Clinical, Independence & Daily Living are the different three service categories - each with different co-payment fees.
Clinical services are covered in full by your home care funding, but Independence & Daily Living services will require some co-payment, depending on whether you are a full pensioner, part pensioner or self-funded retiree.
Most people will need to pay towards the cost of home care under Support at Home
However, the rules are different depending on whether you are:
- A Grandfathered participant - if you were approved for home care funding before 12 September 2024 you won't need to pay fees any under Support at Home if you weren't already, and if you were paying some fees you, you'll be no worse off. Some people may even be better off.
- A Transitional participant - if approved for home care funding after 12 Sept 2024 and before 1 November 2025, you will transition to the new Support at Home scheme and be required to pay some fees towards your care.
All aged care funding assessments are now completed by a Single Assessment workforce
The new system aims to make it easier for older people to navigate the aged care system by offering one consistent assessment process even as needs change. Begin by registering with My Aged Care, and requesting an assessment.
