What Our Free Care Clients Are Saying

The aged care system was extremely overwhelming to navigate after my brain operation, until Narelle introduced me to the Bridging Care Program.

Since then, my support worker Jess has been incredible — helping with tasks I can’t manage, like washing, changing the bed, and reorganising cupboards, while still involving me so I feel part of everything.

She’s also guided me through the system, eased stress on my family, and the chats we have mean the world.

Even if it wasn’t free, I’d still be thrilled. Their care has been second to none.

The sign-up for the Bridging Care Program was so simple. Narelle brought the paperwork out, we sat down with a cup of tea, and we signed it then and there.

It really is a brilliant idea. If you can’t get that help, it feels overwhelming — like nothing is ever going to happen. This program takes away that feeling.

Before, I was caring for my husband on top of everything, and it was exhausting. Now, I can still do a little bit myself, but having support makes such a difference.

It’s amazing to know there’s someone out there who actually wants to help you. I’d say to anyone waiting for their package: give it a go. It’s a brilliant program.”

I’ve only had two visits through the Bridging Care Program so far, and I’m extremely happy with the support. My support worker has been wonderful, and we’ve already got to know each other really well.

At first, I thought two hours might be quite a long time for my little unit. But we’ve found plenty to do, and we’ve made really good use of the time together.

There’s been help with the general housework, and we’ve even been organising my cupboards. It’s lovely to have that practical support around the home while I’m waiting for my aged care funding to be approved.”

Have questions about the Bridging Care Program?

Who is eligible?

You only need to meet 2 criteria:

  • Have been on the home care wait list for an extended period of time, need support and have an estimated package date of around 2-3 months.
  • Live in a post code that we service.
Do I pay you back once I start my package?
No! This care is totally free, you never have to pay us back.
Can I access CHSP services at the same time?

Yes. Our free support adds to any other care you are receiving.

Do I have to sign up with you once I get my Support at Home package?
No, there is no obligation to sign with us once your funding has been assigned. Support at Home is a consumer-led program, and you have the choice!
Do I have to be approved for Support at Home Funding?

Yes. You need to be approved and on the waitlist to be eligible.

Are there any cancellation fees?

No, you can cancel any time without costs or penalties.

Why are you providing this service?

As a local provider, we’ve seen how stressful the waitlist can be on families in our community. This is our way of giving back and making life a bit easier while you wait for your package to start.
